Hülya Toparlaklar

Born in 1978, Switzerland. She completed her undergraduate education at Education Faculty of Istanbul University. She started to collect her memories with the camera that she won in a painting contest in primary school and graduated from Anadolu University Photography Department in the following years. She participated in studio, wedding and birth photography certificate programs. Hülya Toparlaklar, who is interested in taking photographs in various fields, proceed on her way in photography as a member of Visual Culture Association.

It took a long process from the traces of life found in the caves to the luxurious residences with tools that will make our liifes easier. Various constructions were produced as conditions changed and human developed. Walls aiming to protect, temples aiming to keep beliefs alive, habitats aimed at sheltering,... Some settlements disappeared over time, some continued to exist for hundreds or even thousands of years. The works that have survived to the present are the memories of past times. The constructions left from them now continue to exist as a part of modern life with our contstructions. In a Lycian poem written there thousand years ago: "Do not worry if you cannot find me, you will find my belongings. You will find the stones I cut, the paths I opened, the sculptures I carved. And you will see that our fingerprints will touch each other from thousands of years away." His words are almost addressed today ...
