He was born in 1934 in Balıkesir. He met photography firstly at Kabataş Boys High School. He started to work as a photojournalist in Hayat Magazine in 1956. He was a representative for Turkey of the reality movement by Henri Cartier-Bresson Spearheaded starting from the period up to the year 1930 to 50 – 60s with Hayat Magazine. In late 1959, he moved to the Ankara office of Hayat magazine.

He gave art classes at the A.Ü. Faculty of Political Sciences and H.Ü. Faculty of Fine Arts.

He was selected as an honorary member to AFSAD. He opened an exhibition called “A Box Machine and Me” there. He was one of the founding members of the Photography Art Foundation. He was selected as a state artist in photography.
